J.D (Zach Braff) finds his friendship with Turk (Donald Faison) waning. Turk spends a lot of time with Carla (Judy Reyes) and is generally busy with surgery stuff at the hospital. Things are complicated further when it appears Turk has made a mistake in surgery and left something inside one of his patients. J.D tries to talk to Turk about it but finds it no easier to get the time to do so. Being a friend J.D covers for Turk when asked, despite feeling lonely and left out. It transpires that Turk was not to fault, J.D was. Turk however spotted his mistake and corrected it. He tells J.D that he's always got his back and the two finally manage to find some time to spend together.

Elliot takes offence at being called sweetheart by Dr. Kelso (Ken Jenkins). She feels she should say something and confronts him, after being advised to do so by Dr. Cox (John C. McGinley). Dr. Kelso agrees to stop calling her sweetheart, though he argues it’s habit which makes him call all the men in the hospital spot and women sweetheart. It soon becomes apparent that Dr. Kelso is far from pleased with the confrontation though as Elliot begins to get the worst patients to deal with. Eventually she relents and apologieses to Dr. Kelso and has a few words with Dr. Cox who put her up to making a scene.

J.D and Elliot are still seeing each other. Whilst dealing with a patient they begin to kiss each others, however they're interrupted by Dr. Cox. J.D now explains that there's a day limit after a failed kiss. If the couple don't kiss again within the day their relationship is likely to falter and they become just friends. Realising this he tries to catch up with Elliot but time is running out. He eventually tracks her down with a few seconds to go. Elliot however suggests they just talk.
