Set in a hospital, the sitcom Scrubs hit the U.S in 2001. The first show laid out the style and theme of the series. The viewer follows the life of Dr. John 'J.D.' Dorian, a medical student, who begins hospital life as an intern. He is a fairly composed doctor but often finds himself in various funny situations, often involving patients or the other staff. J.D meets with his peers and colleagues amongst who, Elliot Reid and Chris Turk also join the ranks. Carla Espinosa is a nurse already working at the hostpital and soon befriends these three. All medical staff are watched over by Dr. Perry Cox who is in turn watched over by the chief of medicine Bob Kelso. This core of characters are also complimented by other regulars (Nurse Laverne Roberts, Todd Quinlan, Ted Buckland, Jordan Sullivan and the janitor) plus a whole host of patients with various ailments.
